PERSONNEL

Purpose: The subcommittee on Personnel shall conduct annual evaluations of the ordained staff. In addition, the subcommittee shall direct appropriate supervisors and session committee chairs to do annual evaluations of staff under their charge. The subcommittee shall review evaluations and make appropriate recommendations to the Admin and Finance committee. When called upon by the Pastor, church employee, the session, or a member of the congregation, the subcommittee will listen to grievances, seek to settle disputes, and promote the peace and unity of the church.

Membership: The Admin and Finance committee will annually appoint five persons to serve on the subcommittee on Personnel. Three members will be Elders currently on the Session, one of whom shall serve as chair and be a member of the Admin and Finance committee. Two members will be from the congregation-at-large. The Pastor will serve as ex-officio member.

Function: The Committee shall: a. Function administratively under the Session's Administration and Finance Committee b. Be accountable to the Session and carry out its functions and responsibilities as assigned by the Session c. Carry out Session-approved policies and recommend policy changes to the Session d. Interview the professional staff to ascertain their feelings about their work and make recommendations to the Session for adjustments to enhance the quality of their performance e. Report to the Session at least annually and at other appropriate times f. Serve as a liaison between the Session and the professional staff g. Be available to the congregation for its concerns h. Maintain confidentiality as appropriate i. Keep abreast of the legal requirements and implications regarding staff
