Confirmation Classes Begin

Confirmation classes begin this fall for youth who have completed the seventh grade or older, who have not yet made a profession of faith and joined the church. Confirmation is an important time in a Christian’s life – a time of joy and celebration that follows a period of study and reflection in one’s faith in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. While God has already claimed us in the waters of baptism, we have the choice to respond to God’s grace through a commitment to life within the church community. It is your opportunity to learn about Christianity, make your own affirmation of faith, and if you are so led, join the church community. Although we trust that you will prayerfully consider this opportunity in conversation with your parents and family, participation in this class is your own voluntary decision as a child of God.
The classes will be on Sunday mornings during the Christian Education hour from 9:45-10:45am, beginning with a parent and student introduction on September 11th in the Manse. We will study the Reformed tradition including the Apostles’ Creed, the Lord’s Prayer, and the two-fold Love Commandment. The course will include a class retreat to provide for fellowship time outside of the Sunday morning classroom. The spring semester will also provide a mentoring opportunity in which each confirmand will be paired with a seasoned member of First Presbyterian.
