REMNANT BIBLE STUDY

picture

The newly named, Remnant Bible study, will resume meeting on Thursdays in October at 11:00 a.m. in room 214.  Joyce Traweek has been teaching this class for over 40 years and this fall she’s going back to the beginning, by studying the book of Genesis. The class is ecumenical in nature welcoming all ages, denominations, genders, races etc.  She used to teach the class at Community Chapel and Rev. Lyles asked her to teach her class of about 300 at First Presbyterian since she was a member here.  Can you believe the chapel was so full that people sat on the steps all the way up into the balcony?  Now, there is a small remnant left from the good ole days and we hope to revitalize and grow the class to where we’ll need the chapel space again!
Why call it remnant?  Check out 1 Kings 19:15-18 and Romans 11:1-5.  Learn how Elijah felt that he was the only one left who had not compromised his faith or forsaken his loyalty to God.  God assured him there was a group of individuals who shared his zealous commitment.  Paul too encouraged the early Christians by assuring them “there is a remnant chosen by grace”.   Come join this faithful band of followers and students of God’s word.  Come early, 10:45, on Oct.7th for singing and prayer time.  Study begins at 11:00 and lasts about an hour. Bring your Bibles, friends and strangers with you and keep the Remnant class as well as yourselves going and growing!  I guarantee you will be blessed!
