Then mark your calendar for the third Monday of the month and join us for a morning of worship, fellowship and mission work. Childcare is provided for all PW/Circle Mary happenings.

10-14-08. Presbyterian Women Seeks Books for REACH

Presbyterian Women's mission emphasis for January is REACH (Reading Enriches All Children). This is an organization that brings quiet comfort into a chaotic world, thereby possibly changing a life. The chaotic world is a homeless shelter, and the life to be changed and enriched is that of a child. REACH serves 12 homeless shelters in Tidewater and is always eager to enlist new volunteers who commit an hour one time a month to read to the children. After story time, the volunteers give each child two books to keep. Several friends can team up together to read to the children. Reading sessions are on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 6:30 - 7:30 PM. For more information about volunteering, check their website, www.reachnkids.org. Other than volunteers, REACH welcomes new or very gently used children's books to give to the children, but old encyclopedias and children's books showing lots of wear can be used for crafts or school projects. School supplies are always needed since the children are uprooted from their schools and personal school materials like book bags, paper, pencils, crayons, etc. With our help, reading can become for these children one of life's greatest pleasures. You may leave your contributions of books or school supplies in the narthex or in the church office.
