SIXTH ANNUAL MISSION TRIP TO CHIAPAS, MEXICO
Sign-Up by contacting Caitlyn Riner - Llimited Spaces Available
First Presbyterian will send a mission team to Chiapas, México from Saturday July 21, 2012 until Sunday July 29, 2012. We will once again be working with the Tzeltal-speaking indigenous Presbyterians under the auspices of Hebron USA (www.hebronusa.org). The current plan is for the group to work in a village setting. This trip is open to all adult members of the congregation and mature teenagers traveling with a parent. All participants cover their own airfare and the Outreach Committee, subject to the stewardship campaign, covers the in-country costs. Registration for the trip will begin in mid-January with details to follow after the first of the year. Everyone is encouraged to give prayerful consideration to participating in this exciting and potentially life-changing mission opportunity. You are also encouraged to speak with past travelers to Chiapas about their experience. Over the five years of our relationship with the brothers and sisters in Chiapas we have worked on the health clinic in Ocosingo (which opens Spring 2012), the sanctuary and fellowship hall in Matzam and the church building in Ixtapa (not that Ixtapa!) in addition to leading worship and conducting Bible school. Co-leaders will be Caitlyn Riner and Randy DuVall. Join us in Chiapas next summer for a wonderful spiritual experience. Please feel free to contact the trip leaders with questions. Additional information is found on the church’s website under “missions.” “Mero lec” and “lec aye” as they say in Tzeltal.
