SERVICE AWARD PROGRAM
The service award program started in September 2000 for children and youth choral choirs. All receive a simple cross on a black ribbon, to be worn with their robes, when they enter the program. The ribbons will be various colors at the completion of one year depending on grade level. The cross is replaced with a special Chorister Guild cross at the completion of 2nd grade or at the completion of one year for those already past 2nd grade.
In addition to the ribbons and crosses, beads are earned. Based on the model of scouting badges, the program acknowledges the time an effort of the individual chorister. As the children progress through the years, the beads continue to be added on the ribbons. Many children and youth will have bead nearly all the way up the sides!
